Isn't that weird!  I found a photo of Bromley as I remember it (on Francis Frith photos) and walking down the street is a fellow with a girl and honestly, it could be me and my father.  Well, perhaps with a little bit of imagination in my case.

My Uncle Tom bought a television set especially for the Coronation and we went along to share the occasion with many of their neighbours.  I agree, once the Queen is gone, the monarchy will change irrevocably.  Still, the institution has weathered many changes, hasn't it?  We may yet be surprised.

I remember St John's Church but not St Augustine's.  Whereabouts in Grove Park was it?

It was just along Baring Road a bit, just past the bus station and opposite Le May Avenue - I seem to recall some army place opposite as well.  I would imagine it would still be there, it was an old looking gothic church.
